OUR PHILOSOPHY
Move. Practice.
Play together.
We believe young players learn best when skill development and fun go hand in hand. Our programs focus on strong fundamentals, confidence, and a lasting enjoyment of sport.
01Fundamentals first.
We teach the skills that create a strong foundation for future basketball development, with time to practice and put new skills into play.
02A positive place to play.
Games, challenges, and plenty of movement keep children engaged. We encourage effort and teamwork, with the goal of helping every player leave the gym feeling more confident.
03Made for their age.
Activities and instruction are designed around each age group’s stage of development, giving children an appropriate challenge and room to progress.

FOR PARENTS
A few things
to know.
The essentials before their first session.
Have a question about equipment, staying during sessions, or your child’s needs? Ask Michael before registering.
Which age group should I choose?
Groups are based on birth year, rather than your child’s age on the first day. First Bounce is for children born in 2020–2022 and runs from 5:30–6:30 PM. Fundamentals is for girls born in 2017–2019 and runs from 6:30–7:30 PM. Both programs meet on Tuesdays. If you’re unsure which group fits your child, email Michael before registering.
Does my child need basketball or sports experience?
No. Both groups welcome new players as well as children who have tried basketball before. Parents and guardians don’t need to know the rules or teach the skills beforehand. We explain activities clearly and give children time to practice.
What does the $125 fee cover?
The program fee is $125 per child for all seven one-hour Tuesday sessions, from October 27 through December 8, 2026. The full program fee is paid at registration.
What is the refund policy?
Registration fees are non-refundable. Please review the program dates and times before registering.
What should my child bring?
Please have your child wear comfortable clothes and indoor running shoes, and bring a water bottle.
Who are the coaches?
Michael Cheung and Samantha Pyke are the co-founders and coaches at Core Basketball Academy. Read both bios on our Meet the coaches page.
How do registration and payment work?
Select “Register” to open Core Basketball Academy’s Tally form. Choose your child’s age group, enter your details, review the consent and refund policy, and pay $125 by card through Stripe in the same form. Submit the form to finish. Your child’s place is secured once registration and payment are complete.
What if I’m unsure whether my payment went through?
Please check for your payment receipt before trying again. If you’re still unsure, email Michael with the name and email address used to register so we can help check. Please don’t send card details by email.
